Student X Profile

After observing Student "X" carefully over the last few weeks I have noticed some interesting things. Student "X" is unaware that he has a lower reading level than that of his peers. This could be in part because he is grouped with children who are reading on a similar level to him. This makes him a very easy going student. He does get distracted easily, however, he does not get upset or throw fits when asked to refocus. He is accommodating to anything that is asked of him to do.

Interests:

*Drawing- "X" loves to draw. "X" can tell very detailed stories about the pictures he draws. "X" gets very excited about his pre-writing because I allow him to draw his story out before he begins to write.
*Power Rangers, Super Heroes, Ninjas - X will often get into character in class of one of these characters."X" has a very vivid imagination.
*Cars - His father is a mechanic and he enjoys going to work with him and working on cars. He can tell you many things about the workings of an automobile.
*Computers - He enjoys working on any activity on the computer. He especially enjoys Starfall and Sight Words With Samson.

I find that he gets really excited about reading since I began the 100 Easy Lessons Curriculum with him. He is sounding out more words correctly and he is reading more on his own. The way the curriculum is formatted is easy for him to sound out unfamiliar words. It is greatly improving his ability to remember short vowel sounds within words.

I have been finding stories for him to read on AtoZreading that are within his specific interests.
